Every day, mentors in communities across our Nation provide crucial support and guidance to young people. Whether a day is spent helping with homework, playing catch, or just listening, these moments can have an enormous, lasting effect on a child’s life

NLAB Sports primary goal is to prepare young basketball athletes for the challenges of tomorrow. Our volunteer program achieves its primary goal via college basketball athletes and coaches working with young athletes ages 8-18. NLAB views qualified adult athletes (volunteers) as positive influences who act as teachers, listeners, and advocates to young athletes.

Our volunteer program ensures that athletes are never left behind.  Research has shown that sports play an important role in school life and may help improve behaviors, health, retention and develop social skills. All of these factors play a major role in academic performance.  Our hope is that through our basketball and mentoring program, volunteers can model life skills, the importance of education, discipline, teamwork and positive self-esteem as vehicles for our young athletes to obtain success.

This is a remarkable program for college basketball athletes who need to obtain service learning (volunteer) hours in order to graduate. What better way to serve the youth by being a volunteer and or coach on and off the court?  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please fill out the interest form below.
