Learning Experiences Through Basketball & Mentoring

SPORTS + MENTORING =  POSITIVE CHANGE

NLAB (Never Leave Athletes Behind) Sports is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit youth basketball and mentoring organization based in the Inland Empire (Southern California).  Started in 2007 with several kids and a idea, the concept was easily formed.

Our goal is to promote Athlete to Athlete Learning (ATA) by utilizing basketball and mentoring as a tool to help youth accomplish their athletic and educational goals.

35 million kids between the ages of 5-18 play organized sports each year.

What We Do

Connecting College Athletes with Younger Athletes

Only 2 percent of high school athletes win sports scholarships every year at NCAA colleges and universities.

The Reality

Some, if not all of young athletes have their mind only set on Division 1 schools. Our young athletes have no clue about the different levels of colleges they can play for. Statistics show about 2% of high school athletes (1 in 50) play at the Division 1 level after high school. NLAB Sports wants athletes to know they have options. There are many Division 2's & 3's as well as junior colleges where athletes can get a good education as well as enhance their athletic skills. Individuals are limiting young athletes resources, steering them astray and not exposing them to their options. According to the NCAA, “Only 2% of high school athletes are awarded some form of athletic scholarship to compete in college.” If you don’t get an athletic scholarship to play sports, this does not mean your athletic career is over.

The NLAB Program

NLAB Sports is making that special connection between college basketball athletes and our younger basketball athletes (K-12). Our college athletes serve as volunteers and play a vital role in mentoring young athletes as well as assisting and facilitating NLAB basketball camps and clinics. Our volunteers will share their life experiences, educational paths and more to help our young athletes make better decisions and prepare them for their athletic and educational journey. NLAB calls this Athlete to Athlete Learning (ATA). How awesome is this? An athlete learning from another athlete!

Most colleges/universities require student-athletes to do a certain amount of service learning, community service (volunteering) hours before they can graduate. This is a great way for student-athletes to get those hours as well as make a positive impact on our younger athletes. Learn More
